Search Engine

The search engine application implements page search functionality on a site. Each page is indexed on a database, where the search is performed.

Sites are usually organized in sectors (as an example, this site has 6 sectors) with several pages each. The search engine allows for the grouping of pages in Classes, each reflecting the site organization.

For each page there are 4 field types to be filled:

  • Page Name
  • Page Web Address (URL, Absolute or Relative)
  • Page Class
  • Keyword List

Since page URL can be absolute or relative you can index pages from other sites you may have.

Keywords are searched at any of the fields, by any one of the following criteria (in simple search you define which criteria to be used):

  • Sentence: Pages with the exact sentence searched

  • All words: Only pages that have all of the searched words

  • Any words: Pages with any of the searched words.

The application have two distinct interfaces, one for the end users (for searches) and other for the webmaster (for administration and page indexation). The administration tasks are made on the web itself.

The end user pages can (and should!) be personalized to the hosting site layout.
